Having a Tooth Pulled

Went to the dentist last week and discovered that I need to have my last wisdom tooth removed. I had my bottom ones taken out when I was in college and only had one on the top. It was out of the way so they just let it come in naturally. 15 years later and it’s causing some problems with the tooth in front of it so it needs to go.

Anyone had a tooth removed under local anesthesia? I was completely out when they took the two wisdom teeth out and I’m really not looking forward to being awake when they take this one out.

I had two teeth pulled from my top jaw under local. It wasn’t a big deal. It was quick. The worst part was the crunching noise in my head.

Did your dentist recommend an oral surgeon? They will likely give you the rundown of your options at the consultation appointment. Those guys have some serious toys that they play with. The 3d X-ray was cool, the total cost of an implant not so much.

I had my upper two wisdom teeth removed with a local and nitrous oxide. Shit. Is. Awesome. 10/10 would recommend for getting completely ridiculous and drooling all over yourself while making friends in the exam area.

I had one pulled, my only wisdom tooth, from my upper jaw under local. It was one of the simplest procedures I’ve ever had done, easier than getting a crown or even some cavities. My dentist told me that upper jaw extractions are the easiest, which is why they’ll often have a general practice dentist do them under local instead of going to an oral surgeon and being knocked out. You’ll be fine, just follow the post-treatment instructions (which you’ve obviously been through before) and it’ll be essentially pain free.

Just had all four taken out with local anesthesia. They gave me a couple Valium before I went in and everything was fine.

Edit: Then I decided to smoke cigarettes with no care right after the procedure. Of course I got dry socket on my two lowers. Everything was not fine.

That’s good to know. She said it will be really simple because it’s already through.

No, they’re going to do it there because it’s just one and it’s already through.

Ah my dentist rarely does them in the office unless it’s super easy, the only bonus of a local is that you can usually drive home. But in extracting it it might break and that sound is horrible to hear.

Nice. Yeah, it really was easy. The longest part is waiting for the anesthetic to set in. After that, they’re in your mouth for maybe two minutes at the most. A bit of working the tooth loose and then just popping it out. Quick and easy.

Hit up a grocery store after and buy yourself some Snack Packs! ;)

I’ll echo the other replies and say that having a wisdom tooth pulled under local anaesthetic from the upper jaw is totally fine. I had one done a couple of weeks ago, the worst part was trying to keep food out of it when eating for the first couple of days after, the procedure itself was painless and quick.

Good to hear. I’m sure I’m much more nervous than I need to be.
